Phase I of the WOW Trail is moving closer to completion, with the paving Friday of a 2,000-foot-long, 10-foot-wide section between Messer and Moulton streets.

The paving of Phase I, which eventually will extend 7,000 feet from the area behind the Laconia Public Library to Elm Street in Lakeport, was done by GMI Asphalt. Construction on Phase I itself began Sept. 3 and is slated to be complete sometime in December with the trail slated to open to the public next spring.
